Qatar Land Rights
Qatari nationals can own property on a freehold basis anywhere in Qatar.
GCC nationals may buy residential real estate anywhere in Qatar but they are not permitted to sell it in the first 4 years after purchase. They cannot take out a mortgage loan on the property unless it is in one of the areas designated for foreign investment – the 18 leasehold areas or the 3 freehold areas.
Resident expatriates of all nationalities are entitled to buy freehold or leasehold property in the designated areas.
Citizens of non GCC origin (non-residents) have been given the right to own land and residential units in three designated areas following the approval of the Cabinet Decision No. 5 of 2006 while foreigners can lease properties for a period of 99 years in 18 areas as per Cabinet Decision No. 6 of 2006.

- Areas around the Doha International Airport
